Call for Interest for New Board Members and Other Leadership Positions

The Association for Advancing Participatory Sciences (AAPS) – formerly the Citizen Science Association – is seeking passionate individuals to play a leadership role in guiding our future activities. There are several ways to get involved, depending on your experiences and skills, including serving on the AAPS Board.  Other opportunities include chairing working groups and contributing to special projects such as workshop and conference planning.

AAPS Board members are at the forefront of governance and management, holding fiscal responsibility for our vibrant community. They contribute to policy-making, strategy implementation, and serve as advocates to propel our mission forward.

We could fill as many as four new Board members for 2024 and on the lookout for a talented and diverse group of volunteers. Please share this post with others whom you think would make good leaders for this Association.

Application Deadline: February 15th 2024

Term: Three years, beginning June 2024

Skills Sought

Our working board benefits from diverse expertise, and we’re particularly interested in individuals with experience and skills in fundraising, equity and inclusion, and management of non-profit organizations.  We encourage those who have skills in creating sponsorships and organizational partnerships to apply.

As a working board responsible for the governance and oversight of a growing Association, the makeup of the Board is essential to its success. We are in need of Board Members with expertise in one or more of the following areas:

  • Justice, diversity, equity, and inclusion; especially organizational structures for equity
  • Governance and policy development
  • Nonprofit operations and management; especially human resources and organizational business planning
  • Organizational growth: especially building strategic partnerships, and recruiting/retaining members
