Cultivating Science, Justice, and Action
Dr. Mónica Ramírez-Andreotta, M.P.A., Ph.D.
Dr. Mónica Ramírez-Andreotta is an Associate Professor of Environmental Science at the University of Arizona. Using an environmental justice framework and participatory research methods, she investigates exposure pathways and communication strategies to translate environmental health research to action and achieve structural change. Read more on her research and her flagship c*science programs, Gardenroots and Project Harvest.

Ideas-to-Action Sessions
Daily sessions during the core virtual event provided attendees an opportunity apply big ideas to work in this field. Coordinated by CSA Working Groups and partners, sessions were skills-building, solutions-seeking, problem-solving, or co-created.

Regional Sessions
Regional events complemented the core, online program and provided opportunities for individuals in a geographic region to build and strengthen connections close to home.

Why C*Sci?
The strength of this field is our openness to learning across boundaries, particularly across the many approaches to research by, for, and with members of the public. Whether contributory, collaborative, or co-created, whether called community science, crowdsourcing, or citizen science (or efforts that don’t start with c!), CSA is a place for all perspectives and we want the language of this event to reflect that.
Why Connected?
Nobody should have to do this work alone — this is the place to meet new collaborators, gain new skills, and expand your perspectives for the most meaningful and impactful research. We break down boundaries to both challenge and inspire each other in this work. This is a different kind of event, welcoming contributors from all roles and perspectives in this field. Insights from all improve this field — get connected!
