Are you looking for connections and inspiration to boost your career in the participatory sciences? Then the Conference for Advancing Participatory Sciences (CAPS) is for you. This conference is the premiere annual gathering of scholars, practitioners, and facilitators in this field with sessions designed for students, early career, and career transitioning people like you.
At CAPS you can…
- Connect with others who have shared interests, challenges, and aspirations. There will be designated lunch meetups with other graduate students, early career professionals, and career transitioners, facilitated by the AAPS Early Career Working Group.
- Make your voice heard. Present* your emerging work, stories of lessons learned, or research outcomes as a talk or poster, or participate in interactive symposia. Interactive sessions, including fishbowls, gallery walks, and game-based workshops, welcome active participation from the audience (including you!) to share perspective on key considerations.
- Get feedback on your work in-progress. Opportunities for feedback will occur at pre-conference peer-review sessions, at presentation/poster sessions, and during informal conversations throughout the event. CAPS 2025 fosters a great environment for supportive feedback that will help take your work to the next level.
- Interact with thought leaders in this field. Interactive session formats provide ample opportunities to meet the authors of papers you love and gain insights from perspectives you haven’t heard before. Network with prospective mentors who are ready and willing to engage with newcomers to participatory science throughout the conference.
- Attend sessions relevant for graduate students and early career researchers including: a pre-conference workshop in a discussion game format to explore challenges and opportunities in citizen science; a full day workshop on developing a research proposal; or a symposium featuring all graduate student voices talking about Inclusive, Diverse, Large-Scale Participatory Science.
